Bob Lamar - Class Of 1960

Bob Lamar

Robert William LaMar, 66, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at his residence. Robert was born June 7, 1941, in Tell City, Indiana, to Robert and Mildred LaMar.

He graduated from East Richland High School in Olney, Illinois, and served as a gunners' mate in the United States Navy. Robert worked for 30 years at Alcoa as an electrician and retired in 1996. He was one of the owners of the LaMar Shell Station in Paradise, Ind., with his father and his brother, Kenny.

Robert enjoyed the country life, coaching baseball for his twin boys, watching airplanes, camping and fishing in his spare time. He also enjoyed trips with his family. His favorite television shows were Law and Order, Walker, Texas Ranger, Bonanza and most westerns. He traveled to Iceland and Cuba while in the Navy. Robert was a caring man who always thought of others before himself. He was a hard worker who always put his family first. Robert was very talkative and never found a stranger he could not spark up a conversation with. He was definitely not a shy guy.

Robert loved his caring wife Linda in which they spent 34 wonderful years together. They met while she was working as a waitress at Busler's in Newburgh. He and his wife, Linda, were guardians to their two nieces, Angela (Henderson) Badger and Beth (Henderson) Titzer. Robert was truly loved by his family and will be sadly missed. The family would like to extend a thank you to Hospice and the Davita Dialysis Center of Evansville.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda (Henderson) LaMar of Newburgh; six sons, Robert "Jr." LaMar and his wife, Stephanie, John LaMar, Michael LaMar, Joshua LaMar, Jason LaMar and Timothy LaMar; two daughters, Linda LaMar and Brenda Jordan and her husband, Greg; four grandchildren; sister, Terrie LaMar-Shoulders; brother, Kenny LaMar and his wife, Carolyn; sister-in-law, Tonya Johnson; brothers-in law, Johnny Burton and Joe Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.
