Alice Ayres (Bertram)

Alice J. Bertram, 67, of Robinson, died Monday evening, May 19, 2008, at the home of her son, Nolan Carter, in Lawrenceville.

She was born Feb. 1, 1941, in Olney, the daughter of Arnold S. Ayres and Hattie Lorraine Sehie Ayres.

She worked for L.S. Heath and Leaf Candy Companies for 27 years. She was a member of the Faith Church of the Nazarene in Lawrenceville and the Robinson V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4549.

She married Darrell Carter in 1958, and he preceded her in death Oct. 17, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Adrian Ayres. She married Fred Bertram on Nov. 20, 1993, and he survives.

She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Nolan and Cathy Carter of Lawrenceville; two granddaughters, Ashley Carter of Robinson and Chelsea Carter of Lawrenceville; her great-grandson, Quintin of Robinson; one brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Laura June Ayres of Flat Rock; two sisters and her brother-in-law, Pauline Shehorn of Tucson, Ariz., and Arlene and Don Stanley of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. The Rev. Tom Akers in charge of services. Burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Palestine.

Ann Weesner (King) (1960)

Alice was a good friend of mine.  We first met in first grade at Central School and remained friend all through HS.  We lost track of each other for quite a number of years...but because of e-mail found each other once again in the late '90's and kept in touch with each other until her death.  She even came to our 45th Class Reunion!
