Joseph M. Steckler Jr., 70, of Olney, passed away at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012, at his residence.  Services at Stasi-Grove Funeral Home. Services with Reverend Brett Best officiating.

Joseph was born April 6, 1942, in Effingham, to Joseph and Madge (Martin) Steckler. He married Tamatha Hayes in September 1968. She survives.

They have two daughters, Lisa Kittle and her husband, Tony, of Dundas, and Teresa Steckler and her longtime companion, Dan Hataway, of Champaign. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Victoria Kittle and Silas Kittle; and one brother, Daniel and Pat Steckler, of California.

Joseph was an iron worker for most his adult life and was a member of Iron Workers Union Local #103.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.
