Walter Gibbs

Walter L. Gibbs, 72 of Claremont, passed away at 5:00 PM, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Services at Stasi-Grove Funeral Home. Burial at Crest Haven Memorial Park in Claremont. Reverend Ben Woollard officiating.

He was born on July 21st, 1941, the son of Walter A. and Mary Elizabeth (Zimmerle) Gibbs. He later married Violet (Mitchell) Gibbs on June 23, 1961 in Olney. She survives.

Walter worked as a produce manager at the IGA in Lawrenceville for many years. He also did dry wall and painting as a side job. He was a member of Christ Church in Olney. He also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Violet Gibbs of Olney; son Jim Gibbs, and his wife Jennifer of Olney; two daughters, Rhonda Hazel, and her companion Christian Wade of Olney, Sonja Frazier of Olney; brother Ronnie Gibbs and his wife Ruth of Olney; sister Betty Jo Harrolle, and her husband Bill of Olney; 10 grandchildren, Keirston and Fionna Gibbs of Olney, Jessica Elliott and her husband Dustin of Olney, Ashley Miller, and her husband Dustin of Tennessee, Cortney Marvel, and her companion Scott Ingram of Evansville, Cody Chaplin of Olney and Curtis Frazier of Olney; 5 great-grandchildren, Violet Rose and Lucille Marie Miller, Camron, Hannah and Preston Elliott and many nieces and nephews.

Walter was preceded by his parents Walter and Mary Elizabeth Gibbs and granddaughter Tasha Chaplin.

Rodney Cook (1959)

WHEN'T TO SCHOOL WITH WALTER,HUNG AROUN WITH HIM SOMET TIMES AT SCHOOL AND MIKE ICE CREAM PARLOR,GREAT YOUNG MAN,WILL BE MISSED BY MANY,FRIEND ROD.

Kenna Hayes (King) (1961)

Walter was a great guy!   I talked to him on this site a few years ago...  we remembered in Jr. HI  how he used to run up to me and Barbara Mitchell and hang out!  :)  I know he will be sorely missed.....
