Charlotte Rueter (Schultz)

Charlotte B. (Rueter) Schultz, age 95, of Edwardsville, Illinois died on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 31, 1914, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the late Edward August and Hilda Emma (Buddemeyer) Rueter. She married Martin William Schultz Jr., on April 27, 1940, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons: Marty Schultz of Edwardsville and Edward Schultz of Houston, Texas; a daughter: Ruth (Russ) Helmich of Cypress, Texas; six grandchildren: Bret (Tracy) Werner of Hamel, Lisa Werner of Glen Carbon, Sheri (Roy) Losoya of Magnolia, Texas, Staci (Scott) Bratton of Cypress, Texas, Ben Helmich of Cypress, Texas, and Mark Werner of Edwardsville; six great-grandchildren: Christina (Noah) Teichmiller, Amber (Bobby) Hickson, Troy Losoya, Taylor Bratton, Austin Werner, and Travis Bratton; a sister: Ruth Lorenz; a dear friend for many years: Nell Boeker; and many nieces, nephews cousins and their families.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law: Maryellen and Bill Werner; a sister: Betty Brace; and two brothers-in-law: Cliff Brace and Ray Lorenz. Mrs. Schultz spent her childhood in St. Louis. Before she married Mr. Schultz, she was a bookkeeper in St. Louis. After moving to and living in Indianapolis for three years, she moved to Edwardsville in 1954. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville and was active with the Ladies Aid. She was always involved with her church and with the schools her children attended. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading, gardening, working in her yard, and most recently, reading her talking books. For many years, Mrs. Schultz played in a Bridge group with Clarice Anderson, Dorothy Heinrich, and Nell Boeker. The joys of her life were spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services at Trinity Lutheran Church in Edwardsville. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville.
