Mrs. Mae (Weston) Hughes, 68 of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and a former Carbondale, Illinois resident, died Tuesday morning, October 1, 1957 following a cerebral hemorrhage, while visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lowell Gibson in Hammond, Ind.

She was born August 4, 1889 in Salem, Indiana and was married to Walter B. Hughes at Poplar Bluff, Missouri on October 4, 1913.

(According to the 1900 Richland County Census, Mae and her mother, Hallie Weston, lived in Olney on Kitchell Ave.) Mrs. Hughes graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1911. She was a member of the Eastern Star of Marion and the Methodist Church of Western Springs.

Mrs. Hughes leaves her husband; a son, George T. Hughes of Downers Grove, IL; daughters, Mrs. Helen Gibson of Dyer, IN and Mrs. Jeanne Rank of Wauwatosa, WI and five grandchildren.

Services at Huffman Funeral Home, Carbondale with burial in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park Cemetery.
