Virginia Shy (Funk) - Class Of 1920

Virginia Funk, 95 of Hemet, California died of heart disease, January 13, 1998 at her home.  A Celebration of Life held at Panorama Village Auditorium in Hemet.  Inurnment in San Jacinto Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Funk who was born August 3, 1902 in Olney, Illinois, daughter of Walter C. and Minervia E. (Spain) Shy, lived in Hemet for 32 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Philanthropic and Educational Order of Women, AE Chapter, both in Hemet. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Hemet Hospital Auxiliary and the Assistance League of Hemacinto.

She enjoyed traveling and flying and was involved in the flying career of her daughter, Mary "Wally" Wallace. Mrs. Funk served on the crew and was honored recently for her support and encouragement when her daughter was inducted into the Women's Aviation Hall of Fame.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary of Trophy Club, Texas, and one son, Clark of Taos, N.M.
