Dorothy J. McDowell, 95, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Helia Healthcare of Olney.

Dorothy was born September 17, 1930 in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Johnson) Myers. She married John E. McDowell on September 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2018.

Dorothy and John enjoyed many mission trips together and attended missionary conferences. They were very involved with the Calhoun United Methodist Church, where she played the piano for many years, and she and John would sing specials. They also loved to go fishing and camping with their family. Dorothy also loved to cook and bake, especially homemade pies. She also was a very skilled seamstress, making all kinds of pieces throughout her life.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Farrar and husband Mike of Calhoun; daughter, Beverly Harrison and husband Gerald of Olney; grandchildren, Greg (Linda) Thomas, Jennifer Quillen, Lee (Wendy) Harrison, and Josh (Christie) Harrison; great grandchildren, Bradley, Brandon, Dakota, Kristina, Kaylee, Victoria, Patrick, Joe, Naleigha, Cheyenne, Cassie, Callen, and Lana; great-great grandchildren, AddeLynn, Laklynn, Brentlee, and Juniper; brothers, Dewey (Karen) Myers and Kenny (Sara) Myers, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Chuck and Debbie Myers; mother, Eva Myers; husband, John E. McDowell; brothers, Chester Myers and Dick Myers; sisters, Marie Reynolds, Betty Brammier, and Connie Stevens.
