Christina Renee Schmidt, 58, of Olney, IL, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at her residence in Olney, IL.

Chris was born on December 16, 1967 in Olney, IL to parents, Bobby Ray and Bonnie May (Padgett) Long. She married Tony Schmidt on August 6, 1988, he survives.

Chris was a long-time employee of Wal-Mart and worked at the Distribution Center. She was also a member of Rolling Thunder® Illinois Chapter 3.

Chris enjoyed baking for fundraising bake sales but also took pleasure in baking for her family and friends. She enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to bake as well.

Chris was a thrifting machine. She loved garage sales, thrift stores, antique malls and estate sales. She also loved all animals except for chickens, goats, and camel crickets. Chris loved being outside and enjoyed camping and being down by the river.

Chris loved being surrounded by family and being together. She was the matriarch and safety net for the entire family. Her absence will leave a void in the lives of many; she will be dearly missed.

Chris is survived by her husband, Tony "Mongo" Schmidt of Olney; son, Schuyler Schmidt and Lexy of Olney; daughter, Molly Schmidt and Gregg of Olney; granddaughters, Marlee and Madeline Schmidt; siblings, Bryan (Debbie) Long of St. Elmo and Jenny Gordon of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Bobby Ray and Bonnie May Long and sister, Tara Pottorff.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Memorial Services will be held on Friday, April 17, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney with a visitation two hour before services.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for memorials to be made to Humane Society of Olney or Claws and Paws.
