Angela E. Lockwood, 44, of Bloomington died at 8:37 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 11, 2007) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Angela was born Jan. 22, 1962, in Fort Worth, Texas, a daughter of Earl Eugene Slover and Carolyn Schnell. She grew up in Southern Illinois and came to Bloomington in 1980 and had been a resident since.
Angela enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. She also enjoyed going to antique shops and auctions and flea markets, searching for just the right piece and collecting quilts. She and her husband enjoyed going to car shows and street-rod meets.
Angela enjoyed cooking and baking and had an extensive cookbook collection. She had cookbooks from many different places throughout the country, picking them up here and there as she and her husband traveled.
Angela was also a talented artist, making drawings and paintings. One of her most favorite places to go was to Moraine View State Park, where she would spend hours surrounded by nature. It was there that she found solitude and peace during her illness, and she enjoyed spending time with her children there.
She married Robert Charles "Charlie" Lockwood on May 18, 1985, in Bloomington. He survives.
Angela had worked at the Nestle-Beich Candy Co. for 13 years as a candy maker and had recently worked as a noon-hour supervisor at Sheridan Elementary School in Bloomington for three years. She loved her job there and being able to spend time with the children as they played at recess.
In addition to her husband, Charlie Lockwood of Bloomington, Angela is survived by her two children; Benjamin Lockwood and Ashley Lockwood, both at home; her father, Earl Slover of Claremont; her mother, Carolyn (Charlie) Trowbridge of Marion; brother, Richard Slover of Southern Illinois; sister, Sharon French of Olney; brother, Steven Slover of Tennessee; brother, Earl "Junior" Slover of Indiana; brother, Michael Slover of Marion; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Virginia Lockwood of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Cynthia Ann (Michael) Cook; sister-in-law, Katherine Lockwood; sister-in-law, Dr. Rebecca Lynn (Kenneth Taczy) Lockwood; and two nieces and seven nephews.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
