Sue Boughan, age 79, of Sumner, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Haven of Bridgeport. She was born November 10, 1946, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Max, Jr. and Bertie (Rosborough) Rodrick. She married Donald Boughan, and he survives.

Sue was a dedicated educator, teaching at Olney High School and Bridgeport Township High School. In addition to her teaching career, she assisted with the family farming operation and devoted many years as a homemaker. Sue attended Olney Central College and Eastern Illinois University. She also served her community as a clerk for Petty Township. A faithful member of New Hope Christian Church in Bridgeport, Sue previously served as church treasurer. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening and growing flowers, collecting stamps, and most of all, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; three daughters; Janette (Randy) Smith of Sumner, Julie (Scott) Boughan-Silverthorne of Sumner, Jamie Shaughnessy of Sumner; brother, Floyd (Brenda) Rodrick of Vincennes, Indiana; sister, Nita (Bruce) Wesner of Venice, Florida; grandchildren, Justin (Shelby) Smith, Clayton (Taylor) Smith, Susie Silverthorne, Willie Silverthorne, Liam Shaughnessy, Wyatt Shaughnessy; great-grandchildren, Noah Rose Smith, Shepherd David Smith, Myers Lee Smith, and anticipating the arrival of her fourth great-grandchild.
