Susi Brooks, 78, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Susi was born November 4, 1947 in Olney, the daughter of Harold and Lorraine (Henard) Brinkley. She married William B. Gill on July 17, 2007, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2017.

Susi graduated from East Richland High School. Upon graduation she moved to Florida to work at Walt Disney World while raising her two young children as a single mother. She had a wonderful sense of adventure and loved sailing, particularly with her family in the Bahamas. After many years in Florida, she returned to Olney to earn a nursing degree from Olney Central College. She was enthusiastic about her career as a nurse at Richland Memorial Hospital. She met her husband, Dr. William Gill, while working together in the Emergency Room. They shared a love of sailing, horses, and dogs throughout their marriage.

 Susi will be remembered for her strong faith, beauty, artistic talent, and free spirit.

Susi is survived by her daughter, Lisa Brooks (Greg Erwin) of Olney; son, Bryan Brooks of Parkersburg, IL; grandchildren, Matthew Brooks and Brenna Brooks; sister, Elaine Jennings and her late husband, Tom, of Olney; brother, Robert "Bob" Brinkley and his wife, Margie, of Congress, AZ; brother, Harold William "Bill" Brinkley Jr., of Olney; Special friends, Stacy Dunlap, Andrea Edwards, and Dale Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
