Charles R. Jones passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born in Olney, IL in 1925 and would have been 101 years old on January 17th.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith Jones, his wife Jane of 59 years, five brothers, two sisters and loving companion Puzi Edmiston.

He is survived by two sons, Mike (Cindy) Jones of Centralia, IL and Chuck (Jane) Jones of Springfield, IL, and one brother Kenny (Helen) of Arlington, TX. He had five grandchildren, Melissa Doran of Iuka, IL, Erica Jones of College Park, MD, Joy (Ryan) Thibodeaux of Prairie, LA, Derek Weinberg of Indianapolis, IN and Stephanie Sarver of Terre Haute, IN. He also had six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was a veteran of World War II and proudly served in the Army Air Corps. Following the war, he opened and operated Jones Cycle Shop in Olney. It later became Jones Cycle and Toy Shop, Inc. after many product lines were added. That business was sold in 1973, and within a year, he began work at Olney Saving and Loan, where he retired in 1986 as its president.

He enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, trout fishing, reading, playing the card game Pitch, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Charlie was known by most who knew him as a kind and generous man. He was a life-member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Olney Elks club.

A graveside service is scheduled for noon on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Haven Hill Memorial Garden in Olney.
