Larry D. Chaplin, 74, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.

Larry was born February 17, 1951 in Olney, the son of Myrl Chaplin and Marjorie (Daubs) Brassie.

Larry never met a stranger and could put a smile on anyone's face. He liked riding his 4-wheeler and motorcycle and hanging out with friends in his shed. He especially loved his dog, Axel.

Larry is survived by his son, Wade Alan (Shelly) Chaplin of Olney; longtime girlfriend, Rose Schackmann of Noble; grandson, Matthew Chaplin; brothers, Myrl and Gerald Chaplin; sister, Linda Clow; stepchildren, Eddie Edwards, Tina Hutchison, Daniel Martin, Allen Martin, and Tonya Reid, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dale Chaplin and an infant brother.

Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney has been entrusted with arrangements.

Cremation Rites will be accorded. Per Larry's wishes, no formal services will be held, and a private interment will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in rural Claremont at a later date.
