PFC TONY R. LEET KILLED IN ACTION -
Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Deemer of 523 South East St., Olney, received word late Thursday that their son, Private First Class Tony Ray Leet, age 20, was killed in action in Korea last Sunday, October 26, 1952.
The telegram received by Mr. and Mrs. Deemer stated as follows: "The Secretary of the Army has asked me to express his deep regret, that your son, Pfc. Tony R. Leet, was killed in action in Korea on 26 October 1952. Confirming letter follows, William E. Bergin, Major General, USA, the Adjutant General of the Army."
Tony was one of Olney's most popular young men. He enlisted in the service and was originally in the Paratroops. He entered the service in January of 1951 and was serving in Korea with the 45th Infantry Division.
He graduated from the East Richland High School in the Class of 1950 and was a star back on the football team in high school. Following his graduation and prior to his enlistment in the service he was employed by the Deemer Electric firm and also at the Arcadia Theatre.
Pfc. Leet is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Deemer; two brothers, Russell E. Leet who returned home last June after serving in Korea and is now residing in Olney, and Bobbie Leet at home; and two sisters, Doris and Delores.
