Donald Lee Stoll, 81, of Olney, IL, passed away peacefully at home on November 6, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Don was born on March 7, 1944 in Olney, IL He was the son of Alvin William Stoll and Verna Hazel Beck Stoll.
Don graduated from East Richland High School in Olney, Illinois in May 1963. On August 7, 1966, he married the love of his life, Judith Kaye (Dickerson) Stoll also of Olney. They enjoyed 54 anniversaries together until Judy's passing on December 12, 2020.
Don dedicated his life to service, both in the military and in his community. He proudly served in the Army National Guard from 1965 to 1991, achieving the rank of Staff Sgt. E6. During his military career (Vietnam War Era), he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership.
Don's commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him. Following his distinguished military service, Don continued to serve his community working part-time for the Sheriff's Association of Civil Defense for over 20 years. He proudly performed his duties to ensure the freedom and safety for all citizens. Don worked full-time through Prairie Farms Dairy in Olney as a production supervisor where he retired after 30 years. He was known for his dedication, fairness, and compassion which left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Don is survived by one son: Craig Stoll of Olney, Illinois; one grandson: Dalton Stoll of Olney, Illinois; one brother: John Stoll (Linda) of Georgia.
Don is preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife and best friend Judy; brother: Bob Stoll; several brother-in-law's and sister-in-law's.
Don and Judy were very social people, hand numerous friends, and always helped individuals in need. More than anything, they were so proud of their son Craig and grandson Dalton. Don and Judy cherished all the times they spent laughing, having fun, and making lasting memories.
For many years, Don was an active member of the Lutheran Church, Eagles Lodge, American Legion, Gold Wing Riders Association Chapter IL D2, and Sheriff's Association. Throughout the years, Don achieved merits and awards. He spent countless hours fundraising and was dedicated to improving the quality of life for families and communities. The Modern Woodmen of America presented him with the "Hometown Hero Award" for his volunteer services. In November 2021, The Quilts of Valor Foundation held a ceremony and presented Don with his own Quilt of Valor expressing their gratitude and recognizing him for his service to our nation.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kistler-Patterson in Olney, Illinois.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home, Olney with visitation one hour before service.
Interment will follow at Crest Haven Memorial Park with Full Military Rites to be performed at graveside.
