Bearl Smith

Benjamin Bearl Smith, 68, Corpus Christi, Texas, died in his home Nov. 17, 1981.  Services in the Seaside Memorial Chapel in Corpus Christi. Burial in Corpus Christi Mausoleum.

Mr. Smith was born April 5, 1913 in Clay County, the son of W. E. and Mamie Smith.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi. He was a noted author, lecturer and business man. He was broadcaster for the Sunday School Chapel Class of the First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi for 11 years. He also founded an institution on Cybernetics and taught there for many years. He was a chaplin in the Army.

Survivors include a son, Benson Smith, Corpus Christi; two brothers, Clifford, Mt. Pulaski, Edward, Downers Grove; three sisters, Thelma McClain and Neva Pipher, both of Olney, Ina Koertge, Refugio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Clyde and Elbern.
