Everett J. Schwartz

Everett is a 1962 graduate of ERHS. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1965. After completing basic training at Lackland AFB, TX, he was assigned to the 405th Air Police Squadron at Clark AFB, Philippine Islands. (In 1966, the Air Force redesignated Air Police Squandrons as Air Force Security Police Squadrons).

In 1967 - 1968 he spent 18 months in Viet Nam, splitting time between Phan Rang AB and Pleiku AB in the central highlands.

During the Tet offensive in 1968, members of Everett's Security Police Squadron acquired a 81mm mortar from the Army's 4th Infantry Division. Since it was rather unique that Air Force units had battlefield weapons, they were written up in the Air Force Times.

For his actions during the Tet Offensive in 1968 in defense of Pleiku AB, Everette was awarded the Bronze Star with 'V' device for valor. After leaving Viet Nam, he had assignments in Korea, eight years in England, eight years at McChord AFB, WA and time at Whiteman AFB, MO and Minot AFB, ND.

Everett was honorably discharged in 1989. He went to work for the U.S. government's General Services Administration from which he retired in 2006.

The ERHS Veteran's Wall appreciates Everette's long and dedicated service to his country.
