Mary Elizabeth Von Almen (Monroe) - Class Of 1925

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth (Von Almen) Monroe, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, wife of Clifford Monroe, died Tuesday, November 12, 1957 in the Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for one week.

Mrs. Monroe was born in Appleton, Wisconsin and moved with her family to Olney, Illinois where she received her education. She and Mr. Monroe were married June 14, 1934 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma City and Little Rock, Ark before coming to Bartlesville in 1947. Mr. Monroe is employed by the Phillips Petroleum Co. in the engineering department.

Mrs. Monroe was a member of the First Christian Church; the Progressive Mother’s Club; the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and had been active in Y.W.C.A. work here.

In addition to her husband, Clifford, of the home, survivors include two sons, Stephen B. Monroe, with the United States Coast Guard and C. Douglas Monroe, of the home; one sister, Mrs. Walter C. Bullard, Olney, Ill; two brothers, Karl F. Von Almen, Largo, Fla and John M. Von Almen of Scarsdale, NY and one nephew, Robert K. Bullard of Olney, Ill.
