The one thing I remember is my Dad's Pekin High School basketball jersy number was 27. I was born on August 27, and my Dad died on Feburary 7, (27). So one can say that Dad's jersey number contained the two numbers related to the date that he died. Coincidence?

Welcome and enjoy your past friends and memories.
Yes, it has been 50 years ago this day, Wednesday, February 7, 2018 when my Dad passed away, a most tragic, very sad and a premature death. I still remember the long drive form St. Joseph’s Catholic School arriving home that morning, only to receive the horrific news that that my Dad that I had for 11 years was no longer with us. The shock and pain that I felt that day still lingers, even now, tears flow unmitigated down my face. I never had the chance to say “good-bye” to him or hear his laughter or his words of encouragement on the baseball field or to feel his strong arms around me one more time. Yes, a son’s love for his dad will always remain strong, no matter how many years have gone by, eternity I guess. Memories, sweet memories of my Dad is all that I have now, and I do cherish them so. This day brings great sadness but also great joy, knowing that I had a great Dad, even for a short time.
