Myrl R. Burgener, 81, of Springfield, Illinois passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at his home with his loving family at his side, after a short battle with cancer.

He was born on August 8, 1943, in Olney, IL, the son of Keith and Mary (Graves) Burgener. Myrl married Linda Marshall on June 21, 1964, in Olney, IL.

Myrl attended Dundas Grade School and graduated with the East Richland High School Class of 1962. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Myrl dedicated his professional life to the agricultural industry, beginning his career with Monsanto, where he served as Manager for five years. He then spent three years as General Sales Manager at Schuyler-Brown FS, followed by a tenure as General Manager at Menard Service Company for another three years. He concluded his distinguished career with Farm Supply Services, Inc. / Lincolnland FS, Inc. in Sangamon County, IL.

After 32 years of dedicated service in the farm supply business, Myrl retired in 2001, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and commitment to agriculture.

He was a member of Sherman Methodist Church, where he was a part of the building committee, and a member of the Lions and Rotary clubs. Myrl enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, dancing (square and round), and working outside. He was known as a fun-loving, kind, and caring guy who found great value in his relationships with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Myrl is survived by his wife, Linda Burgener of Springfield, IL; children, Todd (Sara) Burgener of Decatur, IL, Sheri (Scott) Shriver of Riverton, IL, and Greg (Lee-Ann) Burgener of Mechanicsburg, IL; grandchildren, Erika (Spencer) Woodward, Michael Shriver, and Megan (Connor) Carmody, Emily and Ashley Burgener; and siblings, Sheldon (Doris) Burgener and Judy (Terry) Zerkle, both of Olney, IL.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at Sherman Methodist Church, 2336 E. Andrew Rd. #9646, Sherman, followed by the Funeral at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Springfield.
