Services for Agnes Ethel (Woodward) Jones, 85, of Flora, Illinois, the wife of the late Leslie Jones, former vice president and general counsel for Illinois Bell Telephone Company, and two-term Illinois State legislature and advisor to Illinois Governor Adlai Stevenson and Daniel Walker, were held in Flora, Illinois.
Mrs. Jones, a long-time resident of Glencoe, died Saturday, June 18, 1983 in a Hemet, California nursing home, as did her husband a month ago. Mrs. Jones had a stroke there in February, while visiting her children and grandchildren. Mr. Jones stayed in Hemet to attend to her.
Mrs. Jones was born in Odin, Illinois May 11, 1898, daughter of Horace and Agnes (Ferguson) Woodward. She married Leslie N. Jones in 1923 and he preceded her in death a month before her in May, 1983.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Women’s Club, Criterion Club, Garden Club and American Legion Auxiliary 14, all of Flora, Clay County Hospital Auxiliary and Clay County Republican Women’s Club.
Survivors include two sons, Robert and Donald Jones; a daughter, Carolyn Kraetsch; twelve grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Graveside services in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Hosselton, Bookhout & Englemeier Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
