Harry G. Rogers - Class Of 1907

Harry G. Rogers, former Arusa, California resident died of cancer on December 28, 1969, it was learned here this week. Mr. Rogers was born in Bloomington, Illinois June 13, 1889 a son of Rev. Stephen A.D. Rogers and Matilda M. (Bomgardner) Rogers. He married Carolyn (Lewis). (Rev. Stephen A.D. Rogers was Superintendent of the Olney District of the M.E. Church  In early 1900’s).

The Rogers family came to Montana from Illinois in 1914. Mr. Rogers was a Superintendent of Schools in Hardin, Montana from 1914-1915. He then taught for two years, where he acted as clerk of School District 17-H, and worked in the County Clerk and Recorder’s office.

He was a past master of Sts. John Lodge No. 92 A.F. & A.M.

Both he and Mrs. Rogers were members of the Methodist Church.

Mr. Rogers became associated with the Banker’s Life Insurance Co. and in 1922 moved to California where he has lived since.  Mrs. Rogers died in 1967. Mr. Rogers was a frequent visitor to Hardin and in February 1969 he married Mrs. Marjorie Stevenson Halsey of Miles City.

Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Ruth Woodward and Mrs. Marvis Ann Lynn, both of California; and several grandchildren.
