Henry E. Schrey - Class Of 1912

Henry E. Schrey, 76, educator and mayor of Glendale, Arizona from 1950-1954, died yesterday August 8, 1967 in his home in Glendale.

He served as councilman for 12 years before becoming mayor. He was principal of Glendale Elementary School from 1922 to 1958, having also taught the seventh and eighth grades there.

Mr. Schrey was a member of the Glendale First Methodist church, where he had taught Sunday School for 35 years and also was a member of the Glendale Masonic Lodge, a charter member of the Glendale Lions Club and a Veteran of World War I.

He came to Glendale in 1922 from his native Olney, Illinois.

Survivors include his wife, Ada of Glendale; three brothers, Fred of Phoenix and Frank and Arthur, both of Olney, Illinois and a sister, Mrs. Mary Burgener of Olney.

Services at Glendale First Methodist Church with burial in Glendale Memorial Park.
