Vernon Robert Lenear - Class Of 1941

Vernon R. Lenear, 90, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Richland Memorial Hospital.  Graveside services and interment of cremains with full military rites in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Mr. Lenear was born October 16, 1923, in Parkersburg, the son of Albert F. and Vera G. (Gaede) Lenear. He married Camille H. Yates on March 25, 1946, in Henderson, Ky. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2005.

Vernon operated Lenear's Garage along with his brother, Mendel, for more than 60 years. He was very active with the Parkersburg Chowder, the Parkersburg Ruritan, and the West Salem Masonic Lodge. Vernon was a very community-minded person and took great pride in his hometown.

He is survived by his brother, Mendel Lenear, of Parkersburg; sister, Virginia Dunahee, of Parkersburg; sister, Norma Jean Williamson, of Olney; adopted daughter, Nell (Verlin) Cokley, of Parkersburg; adopted grandchildren, Kathy (Brad) Skelton, of Olney, and Verlin Gene Cokley, of Parkersburg; adopted great-granddaughter, Julia Skelton; five nieces; and three nephews.

Mr. Lenear was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a nephew, Dennis Lenear.
