Clarence H. "Arkie" Johnson - Class Of 1947

Clarence H. "Arkie" Johnson, 80, of Olney, passed away at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, at his residence.

Clarence was born on February 4, 1929, to Clarence and Lucy A. (Logan) Johnson, in Turner Valley, Alberta, Canada. On July 31, 1948, he was married to Virginia R. Sparlin in Morganfield, Ky. Clarence was a Jehovah's Witness. He retired with 38 years of service to the Halliburton Corporation and was a member of the Elks, Tops and the Studebaker Drivers Club of Evansville.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Virginia Johnson of Olney, his daughter, Colleen E. Simms and husband John of Bridgeport, Ill.; his son, William L. Johnson and wife Dana of Rinard; his daughter, Janet Rodriguez and husband Keith of Lafayette, La.; and by his daughter, Diane Johnson Kalkowski and husband John of Lombard, Ill. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding Clarence in death were his parents, his brothers, Robert and Vernon Johnson and his sister, Odetta Beard.

Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.  Interment at Crest Haven Cemetery in rural Claremont.
