Stephen Robert Hutchings, 57, of Salem, formerly of Parkersburg, died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at his residence.  Cremation rites were accorded.

Graveside interment of ashes at Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg with Minister Carson Root officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by Olney veterans organizations.

Mr. Hutchings was born June 7, 1950, in Richland County, the son of Dennis L. and Ella Jane (Kinkade) Hutchings.

He was a truck driver. He served in the U.S. National Guard and was a member of American Legion.

Mr. Hutchings is survived by his stepson, Shad Weller, of Fort Campbell, Ky.; daughters, Charity Hutchings, of Sandoval, and Stephanie Hutchings, of Salem; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Lee Hutchings.
