Lt. Col. John William Gaddis, 73, passed away November 29, 1974 in Santa Barbara, California. He was born October 12, 1901 son of Charles G. and Ida B. (Mitchell) Gaddis. He married Nina Maria Plockova in Austria in 1947. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retiring July 31, 1955.

Lt. Col. John William Gaddis graduated from OTHS in 1919, attended the University of Illinois for two years, and then entered West Point, from which school he graduated in 1925. Since that time he has served in the Philippines and in Alaska (1935-36), attended Fort Benning Infantry School and served as post adjutant at several other camps. Since the outbreak of the war he has been on duty with continental training forces in Mississippi and at Camp Forrest, Tennessee.
