Bertha Heady (Mason/Shamhart) - Class Of 1924

Bertha Heady Mason Shamhart, 88, of Noble, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1993 in Richland Memorial Hospital.  Services in Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Noble, with Brother Gene Everett presiding. Burial in Forrest Ridge Cemetery in Wynoose.

Mrs. Shamhart was born in Richland County, Feb. 11, 1905, the daughter of Benjamin E. and Rosa (Duncan) Heady. She married Arch Mason May 19, 1932 and he preceded her in death. She then married Clyde Shamhart in December 1977 and he died in 1978.

She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught for over 38 years. She was a member of the Mt. Gilead Church. She was a member of the O.E.S. in Olney and Albion; White Shrine in Olney and Albion; Merry Matrons HEA, Noble; Noble Womens Club; Abecedaria Club in Noble; Wynoose Women's Club; Richland County Retired Teachers Association and Rebekah Lodge (Goodwill) # 201 Olney.

Survivors include a brother, Clarence Heady of Olney; and one grandchild, Dallas Tomblinson and wife, Barbara of Noble.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a daughter, Marilyn and a brother, Oscar.
