Irene Lollar (Ely) - Class Of 1924

Helen Irene (Lollar) Ely, 83 formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana died Saturday, April 23, 1988 in the Indiana Masonic Home, Franklin, Indiana.

“Irene” was born December 8, 1904 in Clay County Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Cox) Lollar. She was the widow of Garland “Bud” Ely.

Mrs. Ely worked in the dining room at Scottish Rite in Indianapolis for ten years, retiring in 1976. Previously, she was an elementary teacher for two years in Louisville, Illinois. She was a graduate of Normal (Illinois) College. While in Indianapolis, Mrs. Ely was a member of East 10th Street United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, a charter member of Everson Class at the church, past matron of Englewood Chapter of Eastern Star and former president of Past Matrons and Past Patrons Association.

Survivors are daughters; Carolyn Seigfried and Elizabeth Ann Clark; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha Lollar.

Funeral services held at Moore & Kirk Irvington Chapel, Indianapolis with burial in Washington Park East Cemetery.
