Lillian Webster (Hussong) - Class Of 1924

Lillian Kathern Webster Hussong, 100, of southern California, formerly of Olney,  passed away June 30, 2006. A memorial service held in Alton, Illinois and graveside service at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney with Pastoral staff from Elm Street Christian Church officiating.

Lillian was born February 2, 1906 in Olney,  to Walter and Millie Belle (Houghland) Webster. Her parents reared three children, Lillian, Helen and Elmer in Olney.  All have preceded her in death.  She married George Richard Hussong, son of a Methodist minister, June 12, 1937 in Olney. She was widowed April 20, 1974 in Godfrey. She remained in her home in Godfrey until 2001, when she joined her family on the West Coast, first in Oregon and then Southern California.

Lillian was educated at Eastern Illinois University, Normal and Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.  She was employed as a teacher in Olney, Wood River and Alton until retirement.  Lillian was active in the Order of Eastern Star, Amaranth, White Shrine, Rebekahs and Royal Neighbors of America.  She served as church organist in several different churches.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Rev. Anton) Fabian of Mentone, Calif.; son, Richard and wife, Jeannie of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
