Olney Man Found Dead, Drugs Are Suspected in Olney Death

Richland County Coroner, Susan Bromm and the Olney Police Department are investigating the death of a 29-year-old Olney man but would not say Sunday, whether foul play is suspected.

Anthony Joel “Tony” Leaf was found dead in his Olney apartment at 9:43 a.m. Saturday, Bromm said. It had not been determined whether Leaf lived alone.

She would not say whether any wounds were on his body and would not release information on results of an autopsy.

Leaf was an unemployed oil field worker.

Bromm said an inquest will be held in 4-8 weeks.

Drugs Are Suspected in Olney Death

State agents and city police are continuing an investigation into the apparently drug-related death Saturday of Anthony Leaf, 29, but foul play apparently is not involved.

Police detective, Randy Stevenson said toxicology reports are still pending. Olney Police Chief, Joe Woith requested the assistance of the Department of Law Enforcement, Division of Criminal Investigation because Leaf’s step-father, Richard Clow is a civilian city police employee. Woith said he wanted another agency involved to ensure no prejudice in the investigation.
