Maurice J. Freeman, 73, St. Louis, died at St. John's Mercy Medical Center there Sunday May 25, 1980. Mr. Freeman was born and raised in the Olney area.  Funeral services held in St. Louis.

He was born in Olney on March 12, 1907, son of Abraham and Hattie (Levy) Freeman. He was an attorney for the Lowenhaupt, Chasnoff, Freeman, Armstrong and Mellitz Law Firm. He was a graduate of the Harvard Law School. Mr. Freeman was a director for many banks and various associations. He was an alderman in Clayton, Mo. from 1954 until 1965.

He is survived by a son, William J., St. Louis a daughter, Elizabeth Baer, New York City, N.Y. and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 1975.
