Mrs. Mabel Ruth (Petty) Ernst, age 54, passed away at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana on Tuesday morning, July 29, 1958. She had been in ill health for many months. Mrs. Ernst was born July 15, 1904 in German Township, Richland County, a daughter of Francis M. and Rosa (West) Petty, both deceased.

She was a teacher in the rural schools of Lawrence County for several years, later teaching in the Sumner Grade School.

She was married to Henry Ernst, who survives along with one son, Dr. Keith Ernst of Cloverdale, IN. Also surviving are a little granddaughter, Cinda; four brothers, Rev. Bert Petty of Sumner, Harry of Rt. 1, Claremont, William of Antioch, IL, and Roy of Charleston, IL; and one sister, Ruby Erwin of Naperville, IL

Funeral service will be held from the First Methodist Church. Rev. Joseph Harris will officiate and burial will be in the Sumner Cemetery. The body is at the Sivert Funeral Home.
