Lester Murray - Class Of 1923

Lester Murray, age 74, of 211 Franklin St., Olney passed away this morning November 3, 1976  at the family residence following a long period of ill health.

Mr. Murray was born in Richland County May 28, 1902 near Noble and was the son of Charles R. Murray and Emma Moore Murray. He was united in marriage to Gladys Diel in Olney on June 20, 1923. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney.

He and his wife had lived in Lawrenceville for about ten years where he was employed by the Standard Oil Company and also worked for other oil companies. He moved to Olney and was a Real Estate Broker for the United Farm Agency nine years, until ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of Edward Dobbins Lodge No. 164 A.F. & A.M. at Lawrenceville.

He leaves his wife, Gladys; two children, Hubert Charles Murray of Olney and Mrs. Leonard (Zola Gail) King of Champaign. He leaves four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mrs. J.C. (Violet) Kurtz.

Services at Summers Funeral Home in Olney with Dr. W.A. Robinson officiating. Burial in North Freedom Cemetry, northwest of Noble.
