Glenn Mosser - Class Of 1922

Glenn A. Mosser, 93, of Rockford, Illinois died Sunday, March 14, 1999, in Wesley Willows Retirement Home.

He was born June 10, 1905, on a farm in Richland County, Ill., son of Edward and Caroline Mosser and married Mary Anna Stotler on March 20, 1930, in Rockford she died Jan. 7, 1998, in Rockford.

Glenn graduated from Olney Township High School in 1922. Taught country schools for two years, coming to Winnebago County in 1925. Worked on a farm for a year and then in various industries in Rockford for several years. In 1928, he became associated with Camlin Insurance Agency, where James Beattie was of great assistance in helping him learn the insurance business, which became his career. In June 1930, he became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. His life was one of service to his family, his church and the community. He served on the church board for 15 years, was superintendent of Sunday school for three years and taught senior high school Sunday school for five years. Served on Highview Retirement Board for 17 years as chairman of building and grounds and on the finance committee. Also served on committees of Downtown Kiwanis Club. Member of Rockford Mens Garden Club, serving as president for one year. Member of Rockford Boys Club and Literacy Council for three years. He was given a life membership in Kiwanis Club, Rockford Mens Garden Club and Building Contractors Association. At a joint meeting of city and county officers, he received a certificate of appreciation for service rendered to youth in the community.

Survivors include son, Donald (Doris) Mosser daughter, Phyllis (Laurance) Pierce grandchildren, Laura (John) Keenan, Kathryn (John) Torrence, John (Debra) Pierce, David Mosser, Michael Mosser and Susan (Gat) Caperton great-grandchildren, Pierce, Mary Abbott "Abbey" and Sarah Torrence, Kayla and Ryen Keenan, Allison Pierce and Eliza Caperton.

Also predeceased by parents, four brothers and four sisters.
