E. Deane Dyson - Class Of 1922

Elza Deane Dyson, 83 of Boise, Idaho, died Sunday, January 31, 1988 in a Boise hospital of natural causes.

Mr. Dyson was born June 9, 1904 at Tullahoma, Tennessee a son of John E. and Della M. (Wooden) Dyson.

He came west with his best friend on a motorcycle in 1925. He married Thelma Merrie Duncan in 1926 in Emmett.

Mr. Dyson was a self-made man. He had worked for Olsen Manufacturing for 14 years. During the war, he supervised the building of marine trailers. He was an avid gun enthusiast. In 1951, he was the Northwest regional 30 caliber champion in Portland, Oregon, winning a berth to national matches held at Camp Matthews near San Diego. He won 30 caliber matches throughout Oregon, Washington state, Montana and Idaho for a period of 10 years from 1945-1955. He retired in 1964. His retirement was spent traveling, hunting and fishing with his wife, Thelma. Together they spent many winters in Arizona escaping the cold and snow, but always returning to their beloved Boise.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Boise; a son, Gerald Dyson of Hailey; a daughter, Patricia Doty of Huntington Beach, CA; a sister Madeline Dyson Fildes of Bainbridge Island, WA; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

His parents; a sister Marie Dyson Ramsey and a brother, Jack Dyson died earlier.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Summers Funeral Home of Eagle. Burial will be in Dry Creek Cemetery in Boise, ID
