Silas G. Dean - Class Of 1922

Silas G. Dean, 53, executive secretary to Earl Mardis at the Ohio Oil Company office in Bridgeport, died at Richland County Hospital in Olney, Monday afternoon, March 25, 1957. The exact cause of death had not been established Wednesday morning.

Mr. Dean fell in his office in a chair accident during February of this year, suffering an injury. On March 16, he fell again in his bathtub and sustained rib fractures. He was taken to the hospital in Olney on March 17. On Monday, the Ohio Oil Company physician visited him and noticed that his condition was serious and went to the telephone to call a brother of Dean’s. Mr. Dean died while the physician was out of the room.

The funeral service will be held at the Fessant-Hammer Funeral Home with the Rev. C.C. Lowe officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Born in Clay City, Illinois on July 18, 1903, Mr. Dean was a son of Daniel and Cora (Alexander) Dean. He was married to Martha Richardson, who with one daughter, Mrs. John C. (Mona) Robinson of Bloomington, survives.

Other surviving relatives are a grandson; a sister, Mrs. Levi Streigle of Clay City; and a brother, Joseph Dean of Findlay, Ohio.

He had been a resident of Bridgeport for 35 years.
