
Head-On Crash Kills Man
Olney – A 37-year-old man was killed Thursday night when his car swerved into the lane of an oncoming tractor-trailer rig.
Terry L. Hayes of Dundas in northern Richland County, was driving north about 6 miles north of Olney on Illinois 130. His car went into the south-bound lane and hit the rig head-on. The accident happened around 10:50 p.m. Thursday.
The driver of the tractor-trailer rig, Edward Hayes, 44 of Xenia, Illinois was not injured. The men are not believed to be related.

Terry Lee Hayes, 37, Rt. 1, Dundas, died Thursday March 30, 1989 on Route 130 north of Olney, in a traffic accident.
There were no services. The body was cremated.
Mr. Hayes was born June 21, 1951 in Olney, the son of Donald and Marie (Thomas) Hayes.
He was a roughneck in the oil field. He attended East Richland High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the army from August 1968 until August 1974.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert Hayes, Washington, D.C. and Steven Hayes, Olney; a sister-in-law, Kayla Hayes, Olney; his parents of Dundas; a grandmother, Ann Severs, Kissimmee, Fla.; nephews, Johnny Hayes, Olney and Kenneth Hayes, Virginia; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Terry was good friends with my husband , John . In fact , Terry was a groomsman in our wedding in 1970 . We remember him well , and still talk about him .
My mother-in-law still asks about him ( She has some dementia and cannot remember that he passed ) He has not been forgotten !
