
Alice Rosetta (Milone) Nicholson, of Decatur, Illinois, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the age of 95.
She was born October 1, 1928 in Claremont, IL, the daughter of Ross and Lucy Milone. She was the next to the youngest of nine children. Alice married her husband Joe on May 18, 1945, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage. After moving several times for oil field positions, they made Olney, IL, their home in 1971. Alice moved to Decatur, IL, after Joe's passing in 2013 to be near family.
She is survived by three sons: Don Nicholson and wife Val of El Dorado Hills, CA, Paul Nicholson and wife Paula of Overland Park, KS, Doug Nicholson and wife Margi of Decatur, IL; seven grandchildren: Tony, Tadd, David, Jill, Claire, Simon and Kyle; six great-grandchildren: Emma, Claire, Caden, Cole, Wyatt and Magnolia; two great-great-grandchildren: Lottie and Bodie; and several nieces and nephews.
Alice was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney where she sang in the choir, served with the Methodist Women, and was active in Sunday School classes. She liked going to art fairs, concerts, antique stores and auctions. She opened and operated her own antique store for several years on Main Street in Olney.
Alice enjoyed visiting friends, antiquing, games, cooking and learning new things. Along with caring for her family she was always willing to help anyone in need. Her warmth, kindness and unwavering love enriched the lives of all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor Alice's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Calvert & Wikoff North Chapel, 4020 N. Water Street, Decatur, IL. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. A committal service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, May 20, 2024, in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Claremont, IL.
