Hayward Marvel, 68, of 601 N. Boone St., Olney was dead on arrival at Richland Memorial Hospital, where he was taken early this morning, August 30, 1977.

Mr. Marvel was a native of Wayne County and was born near Mt. Erie in Elm River Township and was the son of Albert Marvel and Effie Frazier Marvel. He was united in marriage to Alice Long on May 25, 1931 at Mt. Erie.

He had farmed most of his lifetime in the Mt. Erie Community and upon retirement, the family moved to Olney on December 8, 1973. Mr. Marvel was an active member of the Olney Church of the Nazarene and at the time of his death he was a member of the church board and active in the Senior Adult Ministry.

Surviving are his wife, Alice; one daughter, Mrs. Arlene VanFossen of New Philadelphia, Ohio; two grandsons; a great-grandson all of Wooster, Ohio.

Mr. Marvel was the only child of his parents, who preceded him in death.
