Madeline (Dyson) Schneiter, Fildes, died May 31, 1995 at Messenger House on Bainbridge Island, a victim of Alzheimer’s Disease, born in 1909, she lived and raised her family in Olney, Illinois. She moved with her second husband, Vernon Fildes, to the state of Washington in 1958. She was widowed twice.
From her first marriage to Carl Schneiter, she is survived by two children, John Frederick Schneiter of Littleton, CO and Diane Culp of Bainbridge Island; nine grandchildren including Matt and Jon Culp of Bainbridge Island and three great-grandchildren.
Mother’s last four years were eased by the gentle care shown by the staff of Messenger House Care Center. Always she was treated with compassion and dignity as she progressed through the inevitable stages of Alzheimer’s. Our appreciation for the entire staff knows no bounds. We would especially like to acknowledge those individuals, not only for the affection they showed to mother, but for the ability to help the family deal with the effects of the disease.
