
Elbert H. Stiff of Fayetteville, Ga., died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997. He was born August 28, 1908
Funeral services at Pope Dickson & Son Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ga., with Rev. Paul Carrier officiating. Burial at Sherwood Memorial Park with full military honors.
Stiff was a retired colonel in the U.S. Army. He was a teacher and administrator in Illinois for 10 years. After retirement he was the chairman of fundraising for the Mental Health Unit of Clayton General Hospital, now Southern Regional Medical Center. He was Trustee for the Senior Citizens Services of Metro Atlanta. He was Citizen of the Year in Business for Clayton County. Mr. Stiff was also a Trustee of Clayton Junior College Foundation.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hayes and her husband, James, of Des Moines, Iowa; Joan Alexander and her husband, Raymond, of Union City, Tennessee; two brothers, Eugene Stiff of Dundas; Robert C. Stiff of Olney; six grandchildren; 12 grandchildren.
