Opal Harmon (Steuber)


Opal B. Steuber, 85, of Olney, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 1994, at the Richland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney, with Brother John Craig officiating. Burial in the Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Steuber was born Oct. 3, 1908, in Richland County, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah (Gardner) Harmon. She married Lowell L. Steuber, Feb. 16, 1929, in Vincennes, IN. He died in Dec. 31, 1986.

She was a retired school teacher in rural schools. She had worked at Lathrop's Store and Bauman's Hardware.

She is survived by a daughter, Virginia Jones, of Olney; two grandsons, Joe Jones and his wife, Chick, of Lawrenceville, IL and Jay Jones and his wife, Jan, of Olney; two granddaughters, Mrs. Daryl (Jill) Gayer, and Mrs. Buddy (Jodi) Brown, all of Olney; and nine great-grandchildren.

Steuber was preceded in death by her parents, husband four brothers and three sisters.
