
Gerald “Jerry” Stacey, age 60, a former resident of Olney and for the past several years a resident of Oregon and California, passed away Friday, September 20, 1974 at a hospital in San Francisco, Cal. Funeral services in the Caldwell Colonial Mortuary in Portland, Oregon with interment in the Wilhemette National Cemetery.
Mr. Stacey was born in Olney on May 27, 1914 the son of Ezra and Gertrude Metcalf Stacey. He will be remembered by sport fans, as one of the finest athletes to come from this area. He starred in football and basketball at Olney and was one of the mainstays of the Olney baseball teams for several years. He was a veteran of World War II.
He leaves a son, Pete Stacey of Portland, Oregon and the following brothers and sisters: John Stacey, Mrs. Dorothy Cook and Robert Stacey all of Portland, Oregon, Mrs. Helen Berry and Mrs. Audrey Engledow both of Olney, Mrs. Violet Jones of Rockwood, Mrs. Thelma Hughes of Salem, Oregon.
