Donald Pool

Don Pool, 82, of Olney died Monday October 5, 1998 at his home.  Funeral services at Elm Street Christian Church in Olney with the Rev. Keith Krueger and Stuart Liegey officiating. Burial at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney.

Mr. Pool was born March 1, 1916 in Richland County, the son of Lee Daniel and Amy Elizabeth (Sanders) Pool. He married Pauline Stanley in 1939.

He was a retired self-employed businessman, founder of Pool's Bargain Centers. He was a member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge #140 in Olney. He was a member of the Shriners, a member of the Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. in Olney, member of the Richland County Country Club and past board member of the Olney-Noble Airport Authority, a member of the Studebaker Association and past president of the Olney Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Pool is survived by four sons, Dan Pool of Crawfordsville, Ind., Stan Pool of Robinson, Jerry Pool of Olney and Ed Pool of Paris; two daughters, Donna Pool Brinkley of Paris and Sheryll Pool Mitchell of Olney; one sister, Edith Boley of Vandalia; 25 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Pauline; and three brothers, Frank, Clark and Marshall Pool.
