Hazel Mercer (Crites)

Hazel Crites, 76, of Olney died Tuesday, October 29, 1991 at Richland Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services in the chapel of Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with Minister, Joe Eggebrecht and Brother Bill Cox officiating.  Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Crites was born January 11, 1915 in Edwards County, the daughter of Clark and Bessie (Obold) Mercer.  She married Voyle E. Crites on April 11, 1936 in Olney.

Mrs. Crites owned and operated Crites Shoe Repair in Olney with her husband.  She was a member of Elm Street Christian Church, Home Extension and Eastern Star.

Mrs. Crites is survived by her husband, Voyle of Olney; two sons, Garry Crites of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Jerry Crites of Manchester, Tenn.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Mary Kay) Barnett of Fairfax, Va.; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one aunt and several cousins.

Mrs. Crites was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Jolly Michels (Dallmier) (1976)

So sad to hear she is gone.  My dad's office was next door to the shop.  I enjoyed seeing them everyday.  He was a true shoe gobbler, if it was broke Voyle could fix it. and she was the perfect Mrs Cobbler- sweet and kind.  Fond memory of my childhood
