Thelma Jean Hale

Miss Thelma Jean Hale, 42, of 220 North Ohio Street, Olney, was killed in an accident three miles east of Olney on Route 50 at 5:15 p.m. Monday, May 24, 1971, when the car she was driving was involved in a head on collision with a car driven and occupied by persons from Newport, Ky.

The four occupants of the other car were admitted to Richland Memorial Hospital after the accident. They are Carl Cathcart, 33, Trudy LaMarr, 28, Carmen LaMarr, 2, and Jessie Harvey, 25, all of Newport, Ky.

Miss Hale was returning to her home in Olney from Lawrenceville where she was employed in the offices of the Illinois Gas Co.

She was born November 2, 1928 at Dwight, Livingston County, daughter of William and Carrie Ledeker Hale. She attended Olney schools and was a member of the Elm Street Christian Church of Olney.

Funeral services at Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with Rev. R.E. Dowden in charge. Burial in the Memorial Gardens section of Haven Hill Cemetery.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Carrie Hale of Olney, a daughter, Christine Marie at home, two brothers, Albert M. Hale of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Howard W. Hale of Toole, Utah and three sisters, Mrs. Beulah Fiscus of Sumner, Mrs. Dorothy Holtz of Olney and Mrs. Beverly Kimble of Davenport, Ia.
