William Gene Paulsell, affectionately known as "Lou", peacefully passed on the morning of June 2, 2024. He was 97 years old. He was born in Amarillo, Texas March 19, 1927 son of Louis O. and Maude C. (McIntyre) Paulsell.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lillian (Bruce) Paulsell.

He left behind 3 daughters, 1 son, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandkids, and a beloved sister, Carol Paulsell Pargin.

He was born and raised in Illinois and was the first of his family to go to college. After a stint in the navy, he earned a PhD in petroleum engineering. A career with Standard Oil led to many adventures living stateside and abroad. (Lou’s father, Louis O. Paulsell came to Olney in 1939 and was owner, operator of the Paulsell Drilling Company in Olney until the early 70’s)
He was known for his fairness, honesty, and wry sense of humor. He loved to celebrate his Irish roots on St. Patricks Day. He had a wicked golf swing and spent many hours playing along with his wife.

He was our guiding light and his memory will be forever cherished by his family and friends. He will be greatly missed..
