Mabel was born November 23, 1927, in Claremont, the daughter of Ray D. and Edna Roney Pauley. She married Leo James Piersall Sr. on November 20, 1947. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2011.

Mabel was a 1945 graduate of Olney Township High School. She held many jobs over the years, but she was, first and foremost, a homemaker and caretaker. The entirety of her life was spent serving those around her. The Piersall home was open to anyone in need, and she will long be remembered for the care she gave to others without thought of herself. Mabel will also be remembered for her fantastic cooking and for her love of putting on garage sales. She was a charter member of Crawford County Christian Center, where she was a very active member. Her family and her community have truly lost a one-of-a-kind soul.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John Sandberg, of Wolcottville, Indiana, and Debra and Tom McGlothlen, of Edelstein; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Jolly Piersall, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ray and Janie Piersall, of Hutsonville; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Willard Pauley, of Sumner; two sisters, Rose Kimpling, of Washington, and Elzanna Lanter, of Mattoon; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Joseph Piersall; three brothers, Fern Pauley, Millard Pauley and Escoe Pauley; a sister, Ethel Witsman; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
